Participation in the Busan World Knowledge Forum and AI-Related Discussions

During the Busan World Knowledge Forum, discussions on international cooperation in AI education were held with distinguished participants, including Professor Nigel Mehdi from the University of Oxford, the AI Lead from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and Maziar Jarrahi-Farber, Chair of the Oxford Sustainable Finance Conference. The dialogue focused on fostering global partnerships and advancing AI education to address sustainability and technological challenges.

Launch of IKBOI

The Indonesia-Korea Business Initiative (IKBI) for economic cooperation between Korea and Indonesia has been jointly established by Asian Square, the Smart Industry Promotion Association, Dr. Purba (former senator of Indonesia), and Indonesian lawyer Saudaranta Tarigan. Offices are planned to be set up in Surabaya, Jakarta, and Medan, Indonesia.

2024 I&E Economic Forum Hosted

Asian Square held the Korea-Indonesia Economic Forum on June 19, 2024, at the Korea Press Center, sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. The event was attended by the Indonesian Embassy, the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board, members of the National Assembly from both ruling and opposition parties, as well as representatives from LG, the Korea National Railway Authority, Beksan Power, and Indonesian business leaders, making it a successful gathering.

Asian Square Hosts ASNC International Negotiation Competition

Asian Square hosted the ASNC International Negotiation Competition at the Korea Press Center. After preliminary rounds in Medan, Indonesia in 2023, three teams from Korea (Yonsei University, Ewha Womans University, and Handong University) and three teams from Indonesia competed in the finals. The winning and runner-up teams received prizes of 2 million KRW and 1 million KRW, respectively.

Asian Square Holds International Negotiation Competition in Medan, Indonesia

Asian Square hosted the International Negotiation Competition (Asian Square Negotiation Challenge) and a professional forum in Medan, Indonesia. This event was organized by Seoul Forest Yang Hyun-jae and co-hosted locally by the Medan Korean Center and Geumseong Law Firm.

Indonesia Capital Relocation Workshop

On November 9, a workshop on the relocation of Indonesia’s capital was held, hosted by Asian Square and the Smart Industry Promotion Association, with sponsorship from the law firm Geumseong. The workshop featured former Vice Prime Minister Oh Myung as a special guest and was moderated by CEO Minho Kim of Asian Square. Panel presentations were conducted by Secretary-General Park Tae-seo from SIPA, Indonesian lawyer Saudaranta Tarigan from Geumseong Law Firm, and Insyafiah, Director of Funding from the Indonesian National Capital Relocation Agency, along with officials from the Ministry of National Development.

Co-Hosting of the Ukraine Smart City Workshop

The workshop was co-hosted by the UVCA (Ukrainian Venture Capital Association), WSCF, and Asian Square. This event was conducted in a hybrid format, connecting the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, and Seoul. Participants included Andrii Nikolaienko, a Ukrainian Member of Parliament, mayors from Kyiv and Lviv, former Commissioner of the Small and Medium Enterprises Agency, Jung Young-seop, and former Oracle executive Choi Byeong-moo. Asian Square also dispatched its U.S. advisory member, Daniel Pak (former professor at the University of Michigan), to Ukraine to discuss collaborative efforts with the Ukrainian government.
